KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan supports media activities in the country, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate and deputy to the Ministry of Information and Culture on publication affairs Zabihullah Mujahid reassured.
On the advent of World Press Freedom Day, Mujhaid congratulated all media outlets in Afghanistan, reassured support to media activities and on his official twitter account said that media could operate and broadcast freely within the law.
The main reason that some media outlets have stopped their operations since the withdrawal of U.S. forces, was their reliance on foreign funding, he said.
“We assure media outlets in Afghanistan that we will do our best to help them overcome their financial problems,” Mujahid added.
Currently, there is no journalist in the prisons and when a journalist is called for some clarification, it does not necessarily mean imprisonment, in such cases. So, some concerns are unjustified, he continued.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan continues extending support to media and remains committed to media operations in Afghanistan.
