KABUL: Afghanistan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has held ‘Farmer Festival and 26th Agricultural Products Exhibition’ in Kabul.
In a ceremony held on this occasion in Kabul’s Badam Bagh are, the other day, and attended by high-ranking officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said: “Afghanistan is an agricultural country where more than 70 percent of the population are farmers who are playing key role in economic development and self-sufficiency of the country.”
In his speech, Mullah Baradar promised that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) was ready for any cooperation with the ministry of agriculture, irrigation and livestock and farmers of the country.
“Construction of irrigation canals and green sites, mechanization of the country’s agriculture, distribution of seeds, marketing for the country’s agricultural products and supporting farmers in counter agricultural pests are in top priorities of the Islamic Emirate,” Mullah Baradar said.
Meanwhile, acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Rashid, pointing to activities, achievements and programs of the ministry, said that the ‘Farmer Festival and 26th Agricultural Products exhibition’ could be a good step towards marketing the country’s agricultural products.
He added that the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock was committed to delivering quality services so that the country could grow in agriculture sector.
“The ministry of agriculture, irrigation and livestock has planted nearly 25 million saplings across the country during the current year,” Mawlavi Rahid said, asking the people to pay attention to protection of the saplings.
He also asked both national and international investors and traders to invest in Afghanistan agriculture sector, assuring that the ministry would provide them with all facilities so that they could invest in the country.
At the end of the ceremony, officials of the IEA opened the agricultural products exhibition, hoisted the white flag of the IEA and visited various home products.
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition will be open till 29 March to visitors.The Kabul Times
