KABUL: Officials from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the neighboring Iran have agreed to increase coordina- tion for ensuring the security of the two countries’ borders, the country’s ministry of de- fense said in a statement the other day. The two sides, in a meeting agreed to prevent es- calation of tension at the bor-
der in the future and stressed the need for resolution of con- tradictory issues, the state- ment said. The two country’s armies’ chiefs of staff-led own negotiating teams for the talks held in the neighboring Iran, the statement further said.
Also, both sides agreed to mutually appoint focal persons to improve coordination for
tightening security along the two countries borders and re- solve future issues through talks, according to the source.
Last week, a misunder- standing happened between the two countries border guards, a tension that resulted in holding talks between the two sides officials’ meeting.
