Hundreds of historical sites registered in Baghlan in 2 years

PUL-I-KHUMRI: As many as 110 historical sites have been registered in the country’s northern province of Baghlan within the past two years, the provincial Information and Culture Department said in a statement the other day. Director of the provincial information and culture department Mawlavi Mustafa Hashimi said the historical sites have been registered within the past two years in 15 districts of the province, according to the statement. Blaming the previous government and the U.S-led foreign occupier forces, Mawlavi Hashimi said lots of historical relics had been looted by foreign forces and their supporters, as well as fundamental attention had not been paid to safeguarding the historical sites and monuments. He asked the local people to cooperate with the provincial information and culture department in the protection of historical sites and relics. Previously, over 25 ancient sites including Surkh Kotal, Chamkla and Shamraq had been registered in the province. The Kabul Times
