Hundreds of Afghan refugees deported from Pakistan

KABUL: More than 500 Afghan refugees including prisoners, have been deported by the Pakistani government and entered the country via Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings in the past day, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations said in a statement the other day. According to the statement, three Afghan migrants have been released from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prison and returned to the country. As many as 273 of these migrants entered the country through the Spin Boldak crossing, and another 270 entered through Torkham, the statement said, adding that they have been registered by the ministry and introduced to the International Organization for Migration to receive the necessary assistance. This comes amid a dire humanitarian crisis in the country, exacerbated by deadly flash floods in the North and Northeastern provinces. In addition, the returnees from neighboring countries face several challenges, including a lack of foodstuffs, amenities, and facilities and uncertain futures. The Kabul Times
