KABUL: Zabihullah Mujahid, Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, speaking in an exclusive interview with Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) in Helmand yesterday said that a high ranking delegation of Ministry of Information and Culture is on an official visit to the southern Helmand province to visit some of the historical monuments in the province and recommend the local concerned authorities regarding the protection of historical heritage and castles in the province.
Mujahid said that the Islamic Emirate is committed in taking serious steps to preserve the historical monuments. IEA has called on international community to cooperate with Afghanistan in restoring the historical and archeological heritage while some international organizations have promised to restore the historical monuments that are in danger of destruction. He added that no one would be allowed to take over, encroach and build on historic sites. Mujahid assured full co-operation for providing financial support to those media outlets that have ceased operations due to financial issues, adding that he has started efforts to attract countries who want to cooperate and invest in media sector in Afghanistan. He further added that there is no problem for any journalist in accessing information and that any reporter of any media outlet can get information and ask the concerned official for information about the incidents and the issues. He also said that the Helmand River Poetry Festival would be held in Helmand at the national level and that girls in the province would soon go to schools.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first time since the rule of the Islamic Emirate that the Minister of Information and Culture and the Deputy Minister of Publications have paid an official visit to Helmand. Earlier, the ministers of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Education, Refugee Affairs, Energy and Water, and Ministry of the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
