SHEBERGHAN/KABUL: A severe storm starting from Jawzjan province, in the country’s northern zone hit some other provinces on Sunday afternoon, local residents said.
The unprecedented storm is said to be moving towards neighboring provinces as it has reportedly killed at least two people and inflicted heavy damage in some parts of Takhar province.
Local officials in Jawzjan province say that strong winds and dust have caused shops
to remain closed for several hours, power has been cut off and the routine service of trucks were halted for nearly two hours.
People in the capital Kabul also said the tornado has shockingly reached into the capital, forcing dozens of
shopkeepers and vendors fleeing a possible danger.
“Its 8 p.m. the whirlwind continues creating difficulties for the residents,” said Mohammad Daud a capital resident.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department announced heavy rains and storms in several provinces of the country on Saturday.
