HCDM discusses urgent assistance for recent floods-affected families

“KABUL: The emergency meeting of the High Commission for Disaster Management of the Islamic Emirate, was held with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Beradar Akhund, on the chair, to discuss the provision of urgent assistance for the recent floods-affected families in the country, Arg said in a statement Saturday.“Mullah Beradar conveyed heartfelt condolences for the losses sustained by fellow countrymen in Baghlan, Ghor, Badakhshan, Faryab, and Takhar provinces due to recent floods and extended prayers for the departed souls, fortitude for the bereaved families, and swift recovery for the injured in the provinces, according to the statement.“Addressing the meeting, the Deputy PM underscored Afghanistan’s vulnerability to frequent natural calamities, stressing the imperative for responsive institutions to maintain full readiness to promptly assist citizens during such crises.“Committees have been established under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of State for Disaster Management and Red Crescent, to deliver urgent assistance to the flood-affected citizens in the said provinces, encompassing rescue operations, relief distribution, healthcare provisions, food assistance, and funeral arrangements for the deceased.“The commission has directed the member ministries and agencies of the appointed committees to swiftly mobilize and deploy resources to the affected areas, ensuring immediate assistance reaches the injured citizens. “The Kabul Times
