Haqqani inaugurates school worth $480,000 in Parwan

KABUL: The acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Khalil Rahman Haqqani, inaugurating a school worth 480,000 U.S. dollars in central Parwan province, said that the country’s development depends on modern education, according to a statement from the ministry the other day. Emphasizing the importance of modern sciences, Haqqani said in addition to religious sciences, teaching modern sciences is a serious need in the country’s development and prosperity, according to the statement. The school with financial support from UNHCR, has been constructed in the city of Charikar, the center of Parwan of the province, the statement said. “We need to prioritize education and learning above all for the future generation, for the children first and foremost,” the statement quoted Haqqani as saying. Meanwhile, UNHCR’s Representative in Afghanistan, Leonard Zulu, emphasized the importance of providing better educational opportunities for girls and boys in Afghanistan. With the construction of the school, a large number of students now have access to a standard building and appropriate educational facilities. Earlier, residents of Parwan had requested the current system and aid agencies to implement developmental projects like schools, medical centers, and roads in various parts of the province.
