Eid-ul-Fitr has a great esteem and sanctity among Muslims. When the great Prophet of the Islam migrated from Macca to Madina, The people there celebrated two festivals every year. The great Prophet of Islam asked the people of Madina why they celebrate those days? In response, they said:
Before endorsing Islam, we used to celebrate 2 festivals with pleasure and entertainment.
The Prophet (PBUH) said: Allah (SWT) has gifted us two other virtuous days to be celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha by Muslims to replace these two days.
The Holy Qur’an also mentions it in the verse (58) of Surah Yunus:
“Tell them (O Prophet), let them rejoice in Allah’s grace and mercy through which (Book) has come to you. It is better than all the riches that they accumulate.” Muslims, after a month of fasting and sincere worship, ask God Almighty for their reward on the first day of the holy month of Shawal which is Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid is an Arabic word that means to return to (feast, festival or holiday).
The joyful days of Eid are also celebrated in our beloved country with special celebrations. It has plentiful teachings that strengthen our good behavior such as iftar and the first meal before the Eid prayer with special taste, wearing new clothes, perfume and getting together for Eid prayer are all those parts that show Muslims’ pleasure in worshiping Allah.
Performing Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in the General Congregation, in addition to performing a religious obligation of thanksgiving for the blessings and successes of Allah (SWT), also has positive effects on strengthening the unity and social interests of Muslims.
Because when a large number of Muslims living in a city and a place come together in Eid or comprehensive mosques to worship their merciful Allah. In addition to the glorious population of the unity of Muslims and the unity and belief and the view of intimacy and Islamic brotherhood, it is a good opportunity to know about each other and be aware of each other through meeting that strengthen civic and social interests.
The Messenger of God Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) says:
The instruction of human religion is to obey the divine mission. We should not follow ways that have nothing to do with Islam and Sharia and is in fact nothing more than a superstition.
As Eid days are to meet each other and celebrate happiness, it is avoided to remind sorrowful events as according to the Shariah, the Fatiha and misery ceremonies are not more than three days, the holy days of Eid should not be days of gatherings full of sincerity, brotherhood and joy.
And it is necessary for all Muslims. In these happy and blessed days, meet each other in a happy and prosperous atmosphere, and share smiles and happiness, visit the patients so that, by means of this, our religious and social responsibility is realized in practice.
