Hand tractors donated to farmers in Kunar

Farmers in Kunar’s Watapur district have received 50 small tractors provided by the World Food Program with technical support of Sound Humanitarian, Participatory and Organizational Uplift (SHPOUL). Abidullah and Sartur, two residents of Kunar, by appreciating the World Food Program and SHPOUL organization for providing them with small tractors considered the distribution of tractors to farmers as a good step and asked for expansion of the distribution process of small tractors to other districts of the province. “It is very good that some farmers have been provided with small tractors,” Abidullah said, asking for the expansion of the process to other districts of the province. He further said that seeds and other agricultural items should be also distributed to farmers in the province. Sartur, another resident of the province, said that farmers needed agricultural equipment, particularly tractors, adding that all farmers needed small tractors to be provided across the province. Appreciating the relevant organizations for providing and distributing of small tractors to farmers, Sartur added that such agricultural equipment should be distributed to those who were really eligible. Meanwhile, the provincial director of agriculture said that agriculture and livestock were playing a key role in the economic development of the country, adding that his department was working to mechanize the agriculture sector so that farmers could produce more products.
