Habib Ahmadzai’s allegations baseless, to be seriously investigated: Spokesman

KABUL: Presidential spokesman on Sunday termed allegations of Habib Ahmadzai, a former presidential advisor, as baseless, saying anyone having such claims should provide evidence and share it with the public.
Haroon Chakhansuri, a spokesman to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, expressed these views while talking to a press conference here at the Government Media and Information Center on Sunday.
Gen. Habibullah Ahmadzai, a former special advisor to President Ghani in national security, during an interview with a television channel on Friday said that he resigned over interference in his duty, wrong interpretation of democracy and promotion of prostitution in the Presidential Palace.
However, Chakhansuri called Ahmadzai’s allegations as lies and personal obsessions and said the issue would be seriously investigated and its results shared with the Afghan public.
“The allegations of Ahmadzai are for seeking his own seat. After failing in Wolesi Jirga election, he again came to Presidential Palace and asked to be employed again as advisor, but he was rejected,” he said.
“The national unity government is serious about women’s rights, allegations of Ahmadzai are insult to women, no one is permitted to insult the dignity of the Afghan women, we want politicians not to confuse the public in pursuit of their personal and political interests,” he said.
He said anyone had such claims should provide evidence and follow them with the Attorney General Office. On the other hand, Mariam Wardak, a former advisor in National Security Council, confirmed Ahmadzai’s claims during an interview with an Indian TV channel. However, Chakhansuri rejected her statements as well.
“Mariam Wardak made these statements after former National Security Advisor, Hanif Atmar was sacked from his job and replaced by Hamdullah Mohib, she should clarify her statements in the AGO,” Chakhansuri said.
