Grand National Farmer Festival in Kabul; people happy with the ceremony

KABUL: The National Farmer Festival was held in Badam Bagh area of Kabul, where tens of craftsmen and craftswomen, alongside thousands of people, attended the ceremony, showcasing their handicrafts and domestic products.
A number of authorities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) including the First Deputy Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar also participated in the ceremony.
The main aim of holding the three-day campaign was to express support and find market for domestic products and to encourage the producers and help the country remain self-sufficient.
The IEA’s related authorities said they wanted the country to become independent of the world countries aids and remain self-sufficient,” said the acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
He asked the investors and traders of the country to invest in different fields including agriculture for the development of the country.
The minister pledged to recover the usurped lands as the move would help Afghanistan, step up towards self-sufficiency.
People taking part in the ceremony told The Kabul Times that they were happy to see the ceremony was held after the IEA mujahidin took power last year.
“I am really happy to once again attend the ceremony, which is welcomed and taken part by the Islamic Emirate officials. This is good news for the whole people of the country and a good omen for a bright economic future,” said Mujiburrahman Hafizi.
In the agriculture expo, different kinds of domestic products, including, handicrafts, honey, dairy, dried fruits etc. have been shown to the visitors.
A Kabul resident Nabila who purchased some bottles of honey said: “After the collapse of the farmer government, I feared the expo would not be held anymore and the national farmer festival would not be marked. But this is a matter of pleasure that the authorities of the Islamic Emirate attended themselves.” Amiri
