KABUL: Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has assigned Graham Thorpe as the Head Coach of Afghan national men’s cricket team.
He will join national team ahead of upcoming international event.
Thorpe is middle-order English batter who has represented England national team from 1987 to 2002. He was part of 100 test matches with 16 centuries to his name in the format with total score of 6744 and average of 44.66. He has also appeared in 82 ODIs with 21 half centuries to his name in the format with total score of 2380 and average of 37.18.
Thorpe has taken coaching roles at different levels. He was batting coach for English Cricket team from 2011 to 2019.
Earlier ACB has announced the vacancy for head coach role where Thorpe was selected as the available nominee for the position.
