Good neighborhood requires respect to each others’ nationals

The expressions; good interaction/engagement, good neighborhood and positive relation, have now become common and gone viral on diplomatic rhetoric of world leaders and roughly used by mass media. Since the resumption of power by the Islamic Emirate in August 2021, these expressions are frequently exchanged between the Islamic system’s leaders and some of their world counterparts. But, it seems that the International community, particularly the stakeholder countries in Afghanistan’s issues, mainly the neighbors have not yet honored their post-republic commitments nor acted positively with Afghanistan as much as required. The negative consequences of the International community’s failure to perform its responsibility about the Afghan issues, have widely disappointed the people of Afghanistan and created a grave mistrust between the Afghans and their so-called world supporters, particularly the neighboring countries. The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate once again called on the neighboring countries to step up toward a good neighborhood and uphold the rights of the Afghan refugees residing in that country. Here are some points of his speeches at an inaugural event for the start of an air corridor in Kabul: There is a need for interaction between the current government and neighboring countries as the Islamic Emirate wants a positive interaction with neighboring countries and that any disrespect to the Afghan refugees in Pakistan not acceptable. They [the neighboring countries] disrespect the migrants, this is unacceptable to the Afghans and they must think for themselves and measure the future. On the other hand, efforts of the Afghan officials based in some neighboring countries, failed to convince the hosting countries’ authorities to avoid torturing the Afghan refugees and deporting them forcedly. Reports have recently said that both Iranian and Pakistani security officials have resorted to the arrest and harassment of the Afghan refugees and deported them massively. Even, those Afghans with valid immigration cards are not excluded. Hasty deportation of the Afghan refugees from Pakistan caused a grave concern of both the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The best way to address the problems facing the Afghan refugees in the neighboring countries is that the UNHCR to resort to the registration of the Afghan refugees and placing them within a legal process. The move can help them be kept away from police arrest and torture until they can gradually return their home. On the part of the neighboring countries, the police should absolutely avoid ill-treatment, harassment and torture of the refugees. The representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, who have expressed concern over the situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, should discuss all aspects of the situation of migrants at the upcoming meeting of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva and as they pledged, they should work hard to put an end to the immigration problems [Afghans’ related] through their talks with the relevant authorities and share with them that there were numerous reports that “not only Afghan nationals without residence papers, but also holders of valid immigration cards have been detained, humiliated, harassed and illtreated.”
