KABUL: The country’s acting Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani in a meeting with UN Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan Markus Potzel said that work was underway to find a permanent solution for girl’s education, in the country, the ministry said in a statement the other day.
In the meeting, Potzel thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Interior for their cooperation and the improvement of the security situation and shared his concerns with the Acting Minister about women’s education and imposing other restrictions, according to the statement.
The IEA Interior Minister Haqqani said that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was committed to the welfare and prosperity of the people.
“Efforts are being made to permanently address the problems and a reasonable solution would be made under the Sharia rules and based on the country’s accepted tradition and culture,” according to the statement.
The UN Secretary General’s special representative and his led delegation has also met with some of the IEA senior officials, the statement said.
