Geneva Conference to focus on Afghanistan achievements, Chakhansuri

KABUL: A spokesperson to presidential office Haroon Chakhansuri has said absorption of aids to Afghanistan will not be discussed in Geneva conference, achievements of Afghanistan government will be discussed instead.
Speaking to journalists in a news conference yesterday in Kabul, the presidential spokesperson said: “Achievements attained by Afghanistan government in the past five years as well as the commitments pledged by the government to the international community will be discussed in the Geneva conference.”
Chakhansuri also recalled of preparations taken by Afghanistan government for the conference, saying that the government has worked on issues to be discussed in the conference for the past few months.
He said that Afghanistan would economically get depended on itself within coming five years.
The conference led by Afghanistan and the UN will be held on 27th and 28th November at the level of foreign ministers of 62 countries and heads of 35 international agencies in Geneva of Switzerland.
Touching also on holding the upcoming presidential elections, Chakhansuri said that the country’s presidential elections would be held on its time slated for April 2019.
In connection with list of negotiating team for talks with the Taliban group, the presidential office spokesperson said discussions were underway and would be soon shared with the people when decisions were made in this regard.
