KABUL: Officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of the country has said that the export of liquefied petroleum gas has been started for the first time from Turkmenistan to Pakistan through Kandahar. In a ceremony, head of the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment, Mohammad Yunus Mohmand said Sunday that truckloads of liquefied gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan was an important step towards the economic development of the country, Kandahar Government Media and Information Center KMIC said in a statement Sunday. “Previously gas was transferred to Pakistan through Iran and with the resumption of power by the Islamic Emirate, Afghanistan has become safe in terms of transit which is why large-scale exports are being made from this direction, the center said in a state- ment quoting Mohammad. Meanwhile, Kandahar customs Chief Mawlavi Mohammad Hamid Ahmad said that 22,891 cargoes were transited in 1400, while in 1401 at least 53,679 cargos were transited to Central Asia and other countries through Afghanistan. Mawlavi Ahmad assured that there will be no obstacle or delay in the export of gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan, according to the statement. In the end, 50 cargoes of gas, which had arrived in Kandahar from Turkmenistan, were sent to Pakistan through the Spin Boldak land port. The Kabul Times
