Foreign Ministry to set deadline for Qatar with Kabul airport contract

KABUL: First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar directed the IEA’s acting Minister of Foreign to give a definite time for Qatari technical team to sign contract on Kabul airport, said a statement from his office the other day.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also said that Qatari companies were currently running the technical affairs of the airport and no contract has been signed yet.
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Air Aviation Authority denied the reports suggesting the presence of Qatari forces at the Kabul airport.
“We have a fire and rescue Foreign Ministry to set deadline for Qatar with Kabul airport contract team to act in case any incident happens,” said deputy Minister of Transportation and Aviation.
The economic commission also instructed the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Commerce as well as the general department of Intelligence to facilitate travel for Afghan traders, according to the statement.
Last month, an Islamic Emirate delegation in a visit to Trunkey met with Turkish officials and discussed the pending deal on operating Kabul airport and several other international airfields in the country.
