KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister Office for Economic Affairs said Tuesday that foreign companies have shown interest in investing about 10 billion U.S. dollars in Afghanistan.
“After the end of the occupation and the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, the ground has been paved for foreign investment, over the past more than one year,” said a statement from the deputy PM office.
“Dozens of large foreign companies have shown interest in investing around 10 billion U.S. dollars,” according to the statement.
According to the statement, the investments would cover five major sectors such as mining, agriculture, electricity, transport, small and medium enterprises as well as modernization of customhouses, providing services for the airports, transit, industrial parks and railways.
The investing companies have experience in the neighboring and regional countries as well as in the Arab world, according to the statement.
