KANDAHAR: Residents of Kandahar province say they are happy with continued decreasing prices of foods and some other commodities in the city. Prices of foods have unprecedentedly decreased in past few days in Kandahar city. Meanwhile, a number of shopkeepers say prices of some foodstuffs and other commodities have decreased recently. They hope the prices of key foodstuffs will further decreased in coming days.
“The price of cooking oil has unprecedentedly decreased. Previously, the price of a 10-lit can of cooking oil was 1,700 AFG, while today’s price decreased to 980 AFG,” said Bismillah, a shopkeeper in Kandahar city. Haji Mir Ahmad, another shopkeeper, said the price of sugar has also decreased, adding that the price of a
bag of sugar had previously reached to 3,350 AFG, but now the price decreased to 2,860 AFG.
He further said that the price of gains has also decreased in Kandahar markets.
Kandahar residents by expressing happiness about decreasing of the price of key foodstuffs and other commodities in the province.
“We are appreciating the Islamic Emirate for its recent effort towards decreasing of the price of key foodstuffs as cooking oil, sugar and grains,” said Lal Mohammad, a resident of Kandahar.
He hoped the price of flour would also decrease.
Kandahar municipality has also assured of further decreasing the price of key foods and some other
commodities in the city as they have tasked a committee to control the price of foods in Kandahar markets.
It is worth mentioning that the prices of foods and other key commodities have decreased in the country’s
markets after some trade agreements signed recently between IEA and regional countries.
