KABUL: Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met yesterday with Uzbekistan National Security Council’s Advisor and the president’s Special Representative on Foreign Policy matters and Uzbek President’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and accompanied delegation.
In the meeting, bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, current situation, transit and strengthening of trade between the two countries were discussed. Abdul Aziz Kamilov considered Afghanistan’s security as security in Uzbekistan, adding that mutual and close coordination should be done for bilateral trade and good transit.
Briefing about coming economic and political conference will be attended by high-ranking representatives of regional and world countries and institutions which will be held in Uzbekistan in late July, Abdul Aziz Kamilov invited the IEA acting minister of foreign affairs for participation in the conference.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi thanked Kamilov for visiting Kabul and congratulated him on his new duty and by praising Uzbekistan for cooperation with Afghanistan in political, economic and human fields said that both countries had good bilateral relations.
Muttaqi further said that it was time to fix with coming changes in the world and region and positively make use of the changes, adding that an Afghan delegation led by the minister of commerce would visit Uzbekistan to strengthen trade ties between the two countries to reach self-sufficiency.
