KABUL: Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Japan’s Envoy for Afghanistan Mr. Takashi Okada and discussed strengthening Afghanistan’s relations with the world and the achievements of the Islamic Emirate. During the meeting, Mr. Takashi Okada acknowledged the achievements of IEA in ensuring security, combating narcotics, and boosting the country’s economy. Mr. Okada reiterated the commitment of the Japanese government to strengthen relations with Afghanistan and present factbased information about the up coming meeting of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan. The world is willing to cooperate with the Afghan government in dealing with the impacts of climate change, water management, preserving heritage, terrorism, and health, said Mr. Okada. Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi said that the Islamic Emirate has set goals for enhancing diplomatic relations with the countries of in region and beyond. He said that IEA has made major progress in ensuring security, developing political and economic relations, banning drugs, rehabilitating drug addicts, and providing health services. Many issues have been resolved between the IEA and the international community such as countering narcotics, and guaranteeing that Afghan territory would not be used against other countries, he said, adding a good atmosphere has been present for interaction with the global community.
