Flash floods triggered by heavy rains reported in Panjshir

KABUL: Flash floods caused by recent heavy rains in some parts of Panjshir province have destroyed some shops, a water storage facility, a bridge and parts of a road in the Shetal district of the province.
Mawlavi Nasrullah Malikzada, provincial Director of Information and Culture Directorate said that recent heavy rains have caused flash floods in Shetal district and destroyed shops, a bridge and parts of a road.
He said the main road of the province in Koraba Shetal area was closed for five hours due to floods but reopened by Natural Disaster Management department. He added the department was also planning to clear the canals.
According to residents of the district, some roads are still closed in the district as most of the canals are damaged. Local authorities particularly the municipality are asked to repair the canals which play key role in irrigation of agricultural fields.
