Flash floods inflect vast financial losses in some provinces

KABUL: Recent heavily rainfall-soaked floods hit residential areas, and agriproducts, and damaged hundreds of acres of farmlands in some northern provinces of the country Bakhtar News Agency reported the other day. The country’s National Disaster Management Authority takes precautionary steps to reach those who suffer flash floods, the agency said quoting Abdul Quddus Latif the director.
“The flood destroyed tens of houses and washed out hundreds of acres of farmland in the province,” the agency said adding two people were killed in Parwan and four others in Baghlan provinces, where hundreds of acres of farmland were destroyed in other provinces of the country.
The provincial government of Samangan, according to the agency, has tasked a delegation for determining floods causes and to provide detailed report from the destructions, he added as quoted by the sate-run agency.
Recently, the Afghanistan Meteorological Department warned of heavy rainfalls across the country, following which flash floods were feared. The department estimated the mass of the rainfalls between 22-60mm hourly in different zones of the provinces. The Kabul Times
