BAZARAK/TALUQAN: Heavy rains and flash floods have inflected huge property damages in Panjshir and Takhar provinces of the country, the ministry of natural disaster management said in a statement the other day.
Mohammad Akram, an official with the Disaster Management of Panjshir province, said heavy rain and flash floods swept out several gardens, farmlands and bridges in Nawabad and Abrina villages of Abshar district.
The official did not specify whether there was any loss of life, but said property damages were too huge to survey. However, he said a survey was underway to identify the affected families.
Similarly, downpour and flooding badly damaged parts of Eshkamish district of the country’s northern Takhar province.
A district official, Noor Alam, said a survey had been initiated to determine the damage of property and possible loss of life caused by the flooding.
About 400 people reportedly have lost their lives due to monsoon rains and flooding in Afghanistan over the past month.
Elsewhere, in Sharan, the provincial capital and two districts of Baki Khil and Mata Khan Districts of Paktia province, heavy rains-caused floodings also swept huge farmlands and gardens and inflected heavy damage to the people’s houses and residential areas.
In Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Nuristan, Paktika, Paktia, Maidan Wardak and Ghazni provinces rainfall has mounted between 10 to 20 mm, according to a report released by the Meteorology Department.
