KABUL: Flash floods have destroyed nearly 1000 acres of land in Wardak province.
According to a press release issued by Wardak media office, flash floods caused by torrential rains damaged about 1000 acres of land and agricultural fields as well as apple and apricot orchards in Jaghatu district yesterday.
Jaghatu district governor Mawlavi Sardar Ahmad Sabit said that the floodwater damaged lands in Kamal Khelo, Akhtar Khelo, Qudrat Khelo, Misri Khel and Saida villages. Meanwhile, local residents said that hailstorm damaged thousands of acres of land in Paktia.
Various areas of the district received heavy hailstorm yesterday, they said. Standing crops and orchards on about 5000 acres of land were destroyed.
The affected farmers demanded of the government to provide assistance to them. The Kabul Times
