JALALABAD: Afghan forces have arrested a group of five kidnappers and rescued a man held hostage, in the country’s eastern province of Nangarhar, a statement from the provincial intelligence office said Monday.
The kidnapers who have abducted and brutally killed a man few weeks ago, were arrested during an operation conducted by the provincial intelligence personnel in a vicinity of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, late on Sunday, the statement said.
A man who was in the kidnappers’ hostage was also released and his money returned after the forces busted the gang, according to the statement.
Some weapons and ammunition as well as three vehicles have also been seized from them during the operation, according to the statement.
Two months ago, in the capital Kabul, the intelligence personnel arrested a group of eight kidnappers who have abducted five people and took money from their families for their release.
