Five centers to be created to curb smuggling, President Ghani

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, during an Iftari luncheon with the country’s industrialists heard their challenges and demands, Bakhtar News Agency reported the other day.
At the meeting which was held at the Salam Khana Palace and attended by the country’s First Lady, first Shirbaz Kaminzada, Head of the Chamber of Industries, thanked the president for his encouragement of the industrialists and said: “The preferential privilege given to us has encouraged the craftsmen and now the government is the big costumer of the private sector.”
He said the industry has grown by 7 percent this year, exports of the country have reached to $1 million and now up to 3,200 factories are operational countrywide.
Speaking on the issue, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said five centers, to stop the smuggling of foreign products into the country, would be created in different parts of the country, the agency quoted.
The president asked the traders and investors for cooperation in reaching the goal, according to agency.
He emphasized on management of the customs and said the ranting of the lands has been lodged in the new procedure and the entire government properties have related to the ministry of urban development.
The president instructed the ministry of lands and urban development to use government properties and lands as the means of producing wealth and asked the industrialists to submit their written complaints in this field, said the agency.
He also emphasized on further coordination between the government and the private sector, particularly, communication, banking and media and said the pillar of partnership has been laid down and there was a need for further momentum in this respect.
