By: The Kabul Times

KABUL: The National Security Council says there is a need for international consensus against Daesh.
The National Security Council (NSC) in a statement on Tuesday said Daesh poses a threat to Afghanistan and the world and that it needs an international consensus to be suppressed.
The group claimed a deadly attack in Kabul on Saturday evening which left more than 60 civilians dead.
“Daesh is behind dozens of deadly attacks against Afghan civilians and has posed a serious threat. This also threatens Afghanistan, the region and the world and it needs a national, regional and international consensus,” said Kabir Haqmal, a spokesman of the National Security Council.
Previously, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had vowed to eliminate all safe havens of the Daesh as the country marked 100th Independence Day after a horrific wedding attack claimed by the militant group that killed 63 people – all civilians.
President Ghani laid a wreath at the Azadi Memorial minaret on Independence Day.
He said the main celebration of the centenary of Independence Day was postponed to honor the victims of the deadly attack but added that “we will take the revenge of our people”.
“We will eliminate Daesh hideouts all around the country. The fight against Deash will be intensified,” the president said.
It is worth mentioning that at least 63 people were killed, and more than 180 others were wounded in the attack which happened inside the wedding hall where 1,200 guests were attending.
