Farah produces Jajube worth 2 billion Afghanis

FARAH: Nearly 3600tons of Jujube worth 2 billion Afghanis have been produced in Farah province.
Abdul Manan Mateen head of Farah agricultural department told BNA correspondent, Farah is one of the most important producer of Jujube which farmers and merchants of this province had income of nearly 2 billion Afghani from Jujube production.
Jujube is one of the most valuable medical fruits which has been named (TelaeSourkh) (Red Gold) in Farah province.
According to reports, more than 1,000 hectares of land are under Jujube cultivation in this province.
Jujube of Farah province is exported to India and Pakistan, agricultural official of Farah province said, adding the Jujube grows a lot every year in this province.
The main center of Jujube production is in Poshtroad, Anar Dara Districts, villages and suburb of Farah province and also Poshtkoh and Qala-e-Kah Districts.
According to the head of Farah agricultural department, currently Jujube has been widely cultivated in all districts and villages of that province.
Two years ago, the project for the construction and spread of Jujube gardens in Pashtoonkoh and Qala-e-Kah districts of Farah province implemented at the cost of 70,000 $, and a total of 100 Jujube gardens were created in the two mentioned districts and center of Farah province.
Officials of Farah agricultural department say technical and vocational training were held for 200 gardeners in Farah province.
Farmers in Farah province say that this product is also good, and in terms of resources and energy, it is considered gourmet fruit.Jujube fruit is used both freshly and in dry form.
