Extraordinary meeting held for flood victims

KABUL: An extraordinary meeting was held to address the problems of the recent floods’ affected people in the northern and western provinces of the country, a statement from the CE office said Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, in which reports about 23 flood affected provinces have been discussed, the statement said. Heavy life and property losses have been inflicted in 13 provinces, where 32 people lost their lives, 12 others missing and 29 others suffered light or serious wounds, the statement added. Provinces including Faryab, Herat, Badghis, Jauzjan and Balkh have witnessed heaviest damages from the flash floods, according to the statement. Up to 1860 house have completely, while 11081 others partially damaged due to the floods, said the statement. CE Dr. Abdullah instructed the related organs including the ministry of counter-disasters, as well as the ministries of public health, rural development, agriculture and irrigation and the in charges of the independent local organs to supply urgent aids to the flood affected people and asked to provide their reports about their work for the floods victims as soon as possible to further provide them with assistance, said the statement.
