Exports, imports worth 50 billion Afghani made in last month, ministry

KABUL: Exports and imports worth 50 billion Afghani (some 689 million U.S. dollars) have been made via the country’s customs houses in the first month of the current solar year, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement Wednesday. The ministry’s spokesperson Ahmad Wali Haqmal said that 50 billion Afghani in exports, imports, and transit transactions have been processed through the country’s customs houses, showing a significant increase compared to the previous month, according to the statement. “The activity of most customs offices has become 24- hour, corruption has been eliminated, electronic scales have been activated, and the processing of goods is timely and transparent,” the statement quoted Haqmal as saying. Previously, the officials of the Islamic Emirate have emphasized that Afghanistan has adopted a balanced and economy-centric policy with neighboring and regional countries, which has led to the expansion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Afghanistan.
