KABUL: The Deputy Political Minister of Foreign Affairs Sher Mohammad Abas Stanikzai, said the Durand Line is not the official border between Afghanistan and Pakistan but that is an imaginary line. Stanikzai made the remarks during a gathering in Logar to commemorate 26th of Dalwa the anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Red Army withdrawal from Afghanistan, the ministry said in a statement the other day. “Throughout history, the Durand Line has not been recognized officially by the Afghan people, nor will it be recognized in the future,” the statement quoted Stanikzai as saying. He added that the building fences along the Durand Line and demanding passports and visas from the residents on both sides of the line is unacceptable. He emphasized this request of Pakistan will not be implemented. The Kabul Times
