MAIDAN SHAR: A drug processing factory has been discovered and destroyed in the country’s central province of Maidan Wardak, a statement from the provincial police office said Tuesday. The statement quoted the provincial police spokesperson Yousuf Israr as saying that during a search operation, the drug processing lab was discovered and destroyed and a huge quantity of various types of drugs had been seized in Sayed Abad district of the province. “Over 2.3 methamphetamines, 400 liters of fuel, 10 bottles of acid of aquafortis (used in manufacturing heroin), 274 kilograms of lime or whitener and a heavy amount of other materials, which are used in producing drugs have also been sized,” the statement quoted Israr as saying. A few weeks ago, a drug lab had been discovered and destroyed and four people, allegedly, members of the drugproducing factory had been arrested during the operation of the joint and coordinated forces in Sayed Abad district of the province. The latest counterdrug operation comes as the Islamic Emirate, after resuming power, vowed to speed up drug elimination programs across the country. The Kabul Times
