KUNDUZ: The country’s counter-narcotics police have destroyed a drug processing laboratory and arrested six suspects in northern Kunduz province, head of provincial information and culture, Mutiullah Ruhani said Saturday.
“Police launched an operation in Khanabad district’s Nikpay village of the province, where a drug processing factory was detected and destroyed and six people charged with producing the illicit item were arrested Friday midnight,” the official told media.
An amount of raw materials, used in manufacturing the drug, has also been seized during the operation, according to the official who added the cases of the arrestees had been referred to the related organs for more investigation.
Since its takeover of the country in August 2021, the Islamic Emirate has vowed to crack down on poppy cultivation and drug trafficking nationwide.
