Dozens of foreign tourists visit historical sites of Herat, Balkh

HERAT, MAZAR-ISHARIF: Scores of foreign tourists visited the historical sites of Herat and Balkh, the Information and Culture Departments of both provinces said in two separate statements the other day. Tourism Director of the Information and Culture Department of Herat Mawlavi Rahmatullah Mohammadi said at least 11 tourists from Argentine, Chili, Spain and Germany have visited the historical sites of the province within the past few days, according to the statement. “The tourists have been provided with necessary tourism facilities, as the directorate is making efforts to attract more tour ists from across the world,” the statement quoted Mawlavi Mohammadi as saying. Refereeing the increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting the historical sites and places of the province, Mawlavi Mohammadi said more than 55 foreign tourists have visited the historical sites, the statement added. Expressing pleasure over the countrywide security in the province, the tourists said that propaganda in the West is not true and in Afghanistan, people are living peacefully. Also, based on the statement from the information and culture department of Balkh province, ten foreign tourists have visited the historical sites and natural attractions of the province in the past day. Tourism Director of the information and culture department of Balkh Abdul Wahid Ahadi said at least 10 tourists from Poland, Denmark, America, Mexico and Australia have visited the historical sites of the province within the past few days, according to the statement. Abdul Wahid Ahadi said in the past few months, more than 600 foreign tourists from 56 countries of the world have visited the historical places and the natural attractions of the province. “We have visited all historical sites and natural attractions without fear in Balkh province and we plan to visit the historical sites of other provinces as well, the statement quoted the tourists as saying. Referring to the advantages of visiting historical sites of other countries the tourists said visiting historic sites of other countries puts you in contact with locals and allows you to learn about their culture and customs, fostering cultural exchange between nations.
