KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minster for Political Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar, during his visit to the country’s northern province of Baghlan, met with a number of flood-affected families of Burka and Nahrin districts, his office said in a statement the other day. Confirming that comprehensive data on casualties had been compiled by assessment teams, Mullah Beradar said that cash and non-cash assistance had been distributed to the affected families by the relevant organs, as well as the injured people were treated, according to the statement. Mullah Beradar added that several teams have commenced evaluating the extent of damage to residences, agricultural lands, water infrastructure, and livestock. “Relief efforts extend beyond Baghlan province, with financial and food aid dispatched to flood-affected regions across the country and the Islamic Emirate will not spare any efforts in this regard,” the statement quoted Mullah Beradar as saying. Meanwhile, the residents of the districts expressed appreciation to the Islamic Emirate for swift rescue operations and assistance to those stranded by the floods and asked the IEA to pay further attention to providing more assistance and shelter for the flood-stricken people. Also, the deputy PM assured that their challenges will be addressed soon. The Kabul Times
