Deputy PM Beradar assesses Salang highway reconstruction process

KABUL: Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund conducted an inspection of the Salang pass reconstruction project, his office said in a statement the other day. During his visit, he was accompanied by Mullah Mohammad Issa Sani, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and some other officials. Deputy Prime Minister Be radar held a meeting with officials and representatives of the companies overseeing the Salang highway reconstruction. During the meeting, he commended their efforts and provided them with the necessary guidance to ensure the timely and highquality completion of the remaining tasks related to the Salang highway project. The Salang highway is of great importance as a vital trade and transit route in Afghanistan, according to the statement. Currently, two different construction and road development companies have been engaged in the fundamental repair and reconstruction of this 80-kilometer road. An impressive 80 percent of the work has already been accomplished, and it has been decided that the pending tasks will be swiftly concluded, allowing a portion of this significant project to be made available for public use. According to the statement, the reconstruction of the Salang Highway is poised to significantly enhance trade and transit between Central Asia and South Asia through Afghanistan.
