Death toll from recent floods surpasses 300

KABUL: At least 315 people have been martyred, and more than a thousand injured due to recent floods in the northern provinces of the country, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations said in a statement the other day. “About 315 people have been martyred, 1,630 more injured and 2,600 homes destroyed, and 1,000 animals swept away in Shahr-Sulh and Shaikh Jalal villages of Baghlan-i-Markazi and Shar Shar village of Baraka,” the statement said. Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar, during his stay in Baghlan, said that the Islamic Emirate would help the flood victims with all possible means. The deputy PM Mullah Beradar instructed the local authorities and aid agencies’ representatives to provide urgent assistance for the families affected by the recent incident in the province, according to the statement. The ministry also announced the shipment of aid packages to the flood victims of Baghlan, which includes clothes, tents and tarpaulins. The ministry’s spokesman Mohammad Janan Saeq said fresh figures were being collected and would be shared with the media soon. The Kabul Times
