Da Afghanistan Bank auctions another $12 mln

KABUL: Afghanistan central bank or Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) auctioned another 12 million U.S. dollars today (Monday), in an effort to keep the national currency stable, a statement from the bank said.
The statement asked the bidders, including moneychangers and private banks to attend the bidding and that the winners had to deposit the necessary money in cash in afghani as a guarantee in the country’s central bank.
Afghanistan’s national currency, the afghani, has been tumbling against U.S. dollar as the exchange rate of 1 U.S. dollar is now 87.52 afghani.
In similar efforts, the Afghan central bank has auctioned 11 million U.S. dollars last week.
