KABUL: The Finance Ministry of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has announced that custom duty on basic food items has been cut by 50 to 70 percent this year, a statement from the ministry said. The price cuts are based on the Islamic Emirate’s decision, as according to the statement putting this year’s customs duty reduction at 6.7 million Afghani. This is the first time that the customs duty has been slashed on flour, wheat, cooking oil, rice, sugar and other basic food items. The ministry, also said in the statement that 100 billion Afghani were collected in customs revenue in 11 months of the current financial year.
