Cultural heritages protection top MoIC priority

KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa has met with Wang Yu the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China for Afghanistan, here in Kabul, the ministry said in a statement Saturday. In the meeting, Minister Khairkhwa said that maintenance of the country’s cultural heritage and historical monuments is at the top priority of the ministry, according to the statement. Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu said that his country was always committed to respect the territorial integrity of Afghanistan and support political and economic development between the two friend countries, the statement added. “Afghanistan is one the countries which have most of the historical monuments, natural attractions and historical sites and places in the world and China is ready to cooperate in the ground,” the statement quoted Wang Yu as saying. He further said that the preservation of cultural heritages are not only the responsibility of Afghans, but it is the main responsibility of the international community to cooperate with Afghanistan. Also, Minister Khairkhwa, while, appreciating Chinese and other countries and agencies’ cooperation in the protection and restoration of historical monuments with Afghanistan, emphasized for further expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
