KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 544 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 2,589 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The ministry also reported 62 deaths and 1,173 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period. The figures show that there is a slight increase in the number of deaths as well as recoveries from COVID-19, but the number of new cases has remained low over the last five days.
Data by the ministry shows that the total number of cases is 145,552 and total deaths stand at 6,577.
This comes as private higher education institutes and schools were reopened after two months this week. But public universities will reopen gradually in two weeks so that all students get vaccinated before they start their classes.
The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the world stands at 194,785,032 and total deaths are at 4,168,797, according to Johns Hopkins University.
