Cotton processing factory inaugurated in Balkh

MAZAR-I-SHARIF: A cotton processing factory worth of 90 million Afghani (some 1.14 million U.S. dollars) started operation in the country’s northern Balkh province, the provincial governor press office said in a statement Saturday. Factory Manager Faiz Mohammad Yousufzai, said that the cotton ginning plant, with the capacity of processing 80 tons of cotton in 24 hours, has been built on six acres of land, according to the statement. More than 60 individuals have been provided with employment, in the factory, the statement quoted Yousufzai as saying. During the inauguration ceremony local officials asked the country’s businessmen to take part in the development of the country through their investment to create jobs for the youth and to prevent them from leaving the country. Local officials in Balkh prov ince said that security has been ensured and they were trying to run more similar entrepreneurs with their investment environment. Meanwhile, officials for Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that the factory will lead Afghanistan to self-sufficiency in cotton ginning.
