Contracts for 6 major energy projects signed

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Energy and Water Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, in an official ceremony, signed contracts for 6 major energy projects worth 75 million U.S. dollars with Aofi Bahram Mines Extraction and Processing Trading Company, the ministry said in a statement the other day. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar, the statement said. Speaking at the ceremony, Mullah Mansour called the implementation of the projects as necessary and valuable in the development of the energy sector in the country, saying the Ministry of Water and Energy is committed to implementing further projects in the energy and water sector across the country, according to the statement. “The projects include the completion of the remaining works of the 500 KV line from Khaja Alwan Desert to Arghandi, the completion of the remaining works of the Arghandi substation, and the construction of a new substation in the Tarakhel area at a distance of 23 kilometers, implementation of 220 KV transmission line, development of ArghandiKabul substation and construction of new substation in BodKhak,” the statement said. With the successful implementation of the projects, 1,000 megawatts of electricity will be imported from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, which will solve the major problem and shortage of electricity in Kabul and its neighboring provinces, the statement added.
