Contract on electricity extended with Turkmenistan, DABS

KABUL: The power purchase agreement, in an official ceremony, has been renewed with Turkmenistan for another year, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherakt (DABS), said in a statement Monday. The ceremony was added by the company CEO, Mullah Mohammad Hanif Hamza, Turkmen Energy Minister Annagaldi Sprouf, Turkmen Energy Executive Chairman Dordi Ilyasov, and officials from Turkmen Energy’s Construction Department, the statement said. Both sides signed the first energy supply agreement for 2024, which will provide up to 1.8 billion kilowatt hours of energy across four routes (Andkhoi, Aqeena, Badghis, and Turghondai-Herat) to prevent blackouts, the statement added. Additionally, Turkmen Energy received assurance regarding the completion of the 500 KV power transmission line from Sheberghan to Arghandeh, which was recently inaugurated. Also, both sides discussed the purchase of more electricity from Turkmenistan through this line. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the excellent management and leadership of Afghanistan Electricity Company under the guidance of Mullah Hamza and emphasized that since the Islamic Emirate takeover, they have received timely payments, instilling hope for increased cooperation and promising further collaboration, the statement quoted.
