Continued constructive engagement between IEA & international community needed

The United Nations has urged the continuation of constructive engagement between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and the international community. In most recent report by the United Nations Secretary-General, the continuation of constructive engagement between the Islamic Emirate and the international community has been urged.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has said that the Islamic Emirate is encouraged that the UN report urges continuation of constructive engagement between the Islamic Emirate and the international community that puts the needs of the Afghan people first.
“Within the limits of our sovereignty, national interests and teachings of the holy religion of Islam, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan stands ready to continue to the world with the international community to address issues of shared concern,” the statement said.
The Islamic Emirate leadership has repeatedly stressed that the Islamic Emirate has fulfilled its promises made in Doha; therefore, it’s time that the world countries recognize the Islamic Emirate as a legitimate government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the statement has rejected the United Nations Secretary-General report that has also suggested that 23 armed groups claim to operate in the country. The ministry of foreign affairs said that no armed groups were operating in Afghanistan.
Disputing a UN report that 23 militant groups operate in Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the statement said that they disagree with the assessment that there was an increase in amnesty violation, arbitrary arrest, torture and ill-treatment and that militant groups operate in Afghanistan.
According to the MoFA statement, the UN secretary General recently presented his report on Afghanistan’s situation and its implication for international peace and security to the UN Security Council without the presence of any representative of the Islamic Emirate.
The statement said the Islamic Emirate appreciates the report has taken note of the steps taken by the IEA with regards to the improved governance, accountability and access to services through the improvement of existing and creation of new structures such as empowering the Supreme Court and the establishment of Ulama council, continuation of salaries of female civil servants and others from the abolished institutions, efforts towards national reconciliation and unity with former administration officials and minorities, curbing arms trafficking and narcotics cultivation and trade and others.
In the statement, the IEA, however, said that they disagreed with the assessment that there was an increase in amnesty violations, arbitrary arrest, torture and ill-treatment.
As constructive engagement between the Islamic Emirate and international community is needed, it is good that the international community go for recognition of the Islamic Emirate that has repeatedly called on the international community to engage with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Currently, the world does not have any other option, except entering for positive and constructive engagement with the Islamic Emirate and recognition of the current government in Afghanistan. It is not the first time the UN has urged the continuation of positive engagement between the IEA and the international community. Previously, the deputy special representative of the UN secretary-general in late December 2022 had asked the western countries to engage with the Islamic Emirate and reopen their embassies in Kabul.
