Construction work on two water supply projects kicked off in Nangarhar

JALALABAD: Construction work on two water supply projects worth 8 million Afghani (some 112,535 U.S. dollars) has been kicked off in the country’s eastern province of Nangarhar, the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department said in a statement the other day. Director of the provincial rural rehabilitation and development department Mawlavi Qismatullah Mubariz said the projects, with the financial support of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), will be implemented at the refugee camp in the Torkham port, according to the statement. With the construction of the water supply projects, over 750 families will be provided with safe drinking water in the returnees’ camp. More than 500,000 Afghan immigrants have left Pakistan during the past months primarily through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings. The Kabul Times
