Construction work on Qaisar-Laman ring road resumes in Badghis

QALA-I-NAW: Construction work of Qaisar- Laman section of the Ring Road has resumed in the country’s western province of Badghis, the provincial Public Work Directorate said in a statement the other day. “The Qaisar-Laman Ring Road is a vital transit project and is considered part of the country’s ring road that connected the northern part of the country with the western and southwestern parts. Earlier the construction works of the road was kicked off with the financial support of the World Bank but it was postponed,” the statement said, adding that after two years of delay, the construction of the key project kicked off yesterday. Director of the provincial Public Works Directorate Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Rahmani said that the construction of the 3rd section of the Qaisar-Laman Ring Road had started from the Pol Kohna area of Bala Murghab district and will last till the provincial capital Qala-e-Naw, its length is 65 kilometers. He said the project will take up to three years to be completed and the financial resources would be arranged from the Mines of Ghor province. He said the road is stretched between Faryab and Badghis province and its contracts are handed over to six companies and the work would be completed in line with the contracts. Drivers riding vehicles on this road expressed pleasure over the start of work on the ring road project. Hazrat Gul, one of the drivers, said due to the deteriorated condition of the road they spent eight hours instead of three hours while travelling. He hoped that this time work on the road may not be halted and would be continued till completion. Mashal Noori
